Forerunner Hebrews 6:20 (KJV) Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

This meaningful name used of Christ it implies that He went in advance of His own to prepare a place for His people, so that when He returns for them they can be with Him according to His wish. This term is most fitting of Christ who goes before His people to prepare a way for them, to open up the gates of heaven by His atoning blood and priestly intercession.

Jesus, thank you for being that Forerunner who goes before us to prepare a way for us. For without you, I will not have a permanent dwelling place in heaven. A place, whereby I can experience complete peace and joy, and where there will be no sickness and suffering.

The Names of God - Faithful Witness

Faithful Witness Revelation 1:5a And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.

A faithful witness is one who provides evidence or proof from having known or actually seen something. In the Greek, the word witness is “martyr” – one that gives testimony to the truth at the expense of life. Such are evident in the life and ministry of our Lord.

Jesus, you are the only One who has seen and known God, and with such a qualification you must be listened to as you speaks about the Father. Like you, I want to be a true witness speaking of the things which I have seen and heard. May I never fail to boldly declare by word and deed, the truth received from you.

Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Christ was certainly, The Father of His Country, for while on earth He declared that He came from heaven where He had been through the eternal past. For Him, whose Fatherland was the universe, and whose age is eternity, the glory is that He is the Christ of all ages. The mystery our finite minds cannot understand is that although the Everlasting Father, He became a child.

God, your word here tells me that Jesus is the Everlasting Father. To my human mind, it is hard for me to understand this. But since you say it is, I accept it because you are a God of truth. All earthly fathers will leave the world after reaching their allocated span, but you, the Everlasting Father will never die. For you live forever to bless your people with fatherly love and provision.

The Names of God - Desire of All Nations

Desire of All Nations
Haggai 2:7 (KJV) And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.

The word desire can be given as “hope,” Jeremiah describes Jehovah as “The Hope of Israel” (14:8; 17:13). Christ is not only the Desire or Hope of all nations, He is the Hope of His redeemed Church. Paul describes the Rapture of the Church at Christ’s return as “the Blessed Hope” (Titus 2:13).

Jesus, though nations do not presently desire you, yet you are the only One who can satisfy the yearning desires within the heart of man. There will come a time when you will shake all nations and then you alone will usher in world peace. For without you, there will be no peace in this world.

Deliverer
Romans 11:26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.

Deliverer proclaims Jesus Christ to be One who rescues us from sin and destruction and preserves from such. It also reminds us of the threefold deliverance secured for is – past, present, and future (2 Corinthians 1:10).

Lord Jesus, I thank you that you are my Deliverer. You have delivered me from the guilt of my sin that separated me from God. You have delivered me also from the power and dominion of sin. In you there is no condemnation, therefore I can always come boldly to your throne of grace with my requests and needs.

Counsellor
Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Such a counselor is Jesus Christ, who has a guiding mind to think for all, a guiding heart to feel for all, a guiding hand to act for all. His counsel is unchallengeable. As a member of the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), Christ who is omniscient (all-knowing) is able to give counsel to His people concerning God’s mind and will.

Lord Jesus, what a comfort to know that you are an all-knowing Counselor. With such assurance, I know I can come to you with my problems with confidence that you will guide me with your counsel. Teach me to lean not on my own understanding but in all my ways acknowledge you so that you will give me success.

The word Christ means “Anointed.” This was Jesus official designation and occurs in the 4 Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) about 57 times, and is usually used with the phrase “The Christ.” Like the priests, kings, and prophets in the Old Testament were anointed to their respective offices and were thus considered as God’s anointed ones, we can readily understand why Christ was The Anointed One. Having been consecrated by His Baptism and the descent of the Holy Spirit as our Prophet, Priest, and King.

Lord, I am so blessed to have you as my Anointed Prophet, Priest, and King. From this anointing, I can have your teaching, share of your sacrifice and intercession, and enjoy your gifts and riches. Praise be to your Holy Name.

Chief Corner Stone 1 Peter 2:6 (KJV) Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

In any building, the corner stone is of fundamental importance. It is called corner because it forms part of a corner or angle in a wall, and is usually laid at the formal installation ceremony of erection of a building. No building is considered complete until it has received this headstone. It is under the figure of a building that the foundation of the Church is described. The foundation of the Church Christ is building has been laid strong and deep, in the eternal counsels of God. Christ, then, as “the Chief Corner Stone” is what the Church needs, and what her every member needs.

Jesus, you are the chosen and precious cornerstone and whoever trusts in you will never be put to shame. For in you the foundation of the Church is sure and secure and no forces on earth can destroy it. What a glorious foundation you have laid for your people. Without you, the Chief Corner Stone, the Church will not be complete.

Bright Morning Star Revelation 22:16 I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.

Here, Christ presents Himself as “the bright Star of the morning.” It was by the leading of a star that God manifested His Son to the Gentiles (Matthew 2:9-10). As the Morning Star,Christ is the pledge of the coming day, both for His own (the Jews) and for the ungodly (the Gentiles), who love darkness because of their evil deeds. As the Light of the World, the Son of God is coming to banish its darkness.

Thank you, Father for sending to us your Bright Morning Star, Jesus. Just when the world is in darkness of sins you give us light through your Son, Jesus Christ in your own perfect timing. What a blessing it is that light came into the world in the person of Jesus who is the Bright and Morning Star. The use of this title by God symbolized the relationship between God and His people and also between Christ and His Church. As the Bridegroom Christ presents Himself to His own. Precious to Him, His Church which He bought her with His own blood, is His Bride.

Jesus, you are the Bridegroom and the Church is your Bride. In your sight, she is always precious to you. Thank you for your promises to treasure her, protect her, and delight in her. Keep your Church pure from sins and that she will remain faithful to your love so that she will not broke your heart.

The Name of God - Bread of Life

Bread of Life John 6:35 Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

Ordinary bread is a substance that has been formed by life. Life is in the seed we get from the harvest. Life is in the wheat by which human beings may be fed and sustained. Life can only be sustained by that which has been produced by life. If this is true of our physical life, it is likewise true of our spiritual life which can only be derived from One who has such life in perfection. Christ has “life in himself” and possesses the ability to impart this life to others.

Yes, Lord Jesus, you and you alone are able to satisfy the longing of human hearts because you are the Bread of Life. It was by your death for sinners that you became the Bread of Life to sinners. As the living Bread, you are the living God and those partake such Bread will live forever.

What Is Baptism?

Baptism is an outward proof of what is happening in a believer’s life. It a believer’s action to show why Jesus died and was resurrected.

The Bible declares, “Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life” (Romans 6:3-4 NIV).

In baptism, the action of being immersed in the water demonstrates being buried with Christ. The action of coming out of the water pictures Christ’s resurrection.

There should be two requirements before a person is baptized:

(1) he trusted in Jesus Christ as Saviour and

(2) he understands what baptism means.

If a person knows the Lord Jesus as Saviour and understands that baptism is a step of obedience in showing his faith in Christ to people and wants to be baptized, then there is no reason to prevent the believer from being baptized.

The Bible tells us that baptism is simply a step of obedience - a public announcement of one’s faith in Christ. Baptism is important because it is a step of obedience – publicly declaring faith in Christ and commitment to Him and identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.

But it was the Lord who decided to crush him and make him suffer. So the Lord made his life a penalty offering. But he will see his descendants and live a long life. He will complete the things the Lord wants him to do. He will suffer many things in his soul. But then he see life and be satisfied.

It is Jesus that make us right with God. He carried away our sins. He willingly gave his life. He was treated like a criminal. He may be crushed but he carried away the sins of many people. And he asked forgiveness for those who sinned. Thank you Lord Jesus for Your grace and love for us.

The Bible is God's Word, given to us to tell us how we can know God.

God wants to speak to you through its pages. He wants you to come to know Him by discovering Jesus Christ, who is the focus of the Bible.

The Bible is a collection of books. These books were written over many centuries, and they were gradually brought together into their present form.

The first five books of the Bible is known as the "Torah," which is the Hebrew word for God's Law is found in the Old Testament. Books in the Old Testament talked about God's dealings with His people.

The life of Jesus was recorded in the first four books of the New Testament, commonly called the Gospel.

The Bible is like a 'operating manual' for us. It teaches us how to live our present lives and prepare for life after we die.

What Is Amen?
In Hebrew, it means 'let it be so'. It is a plea to God for a response to prayer, one way of saying that it will be done by God, a 'Yes' to God's vision and a statement of confidence in God.

What Is Hallelujah and Alleluia?
Hallelujah in Hebrew means "Praise be to God". In Latin form, it is known as alleluia. It's not supposed to stop at our lips, the Christian should be an alleluia from head to foot! We are to praise God with lips, with body, with heart, and with deed.

What Is Maranatha ?
Maranatha means "our Lord comes," or "Lord, come quickly". This phrase is how some early Christians greeted each other. The use comes from Revelation 22:20, where it is used as a plea or prayer.

The Name of God - Branch

Jeremiah 33:15 In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David's line; he will do what is just and right in the land.

This prophetic title of Christ speaks of the Messiah who came of “the seed of David according to the flesh” (Romans 1:3), and who will be revealed in His earthly glory as King of kings, and Lord of lords. Jeremiah describes Him as the Branch of Righteous, therefore qualified to execute judgment and righteousness in the earth when He sets up His rule.

Jesus, I acknowledge that you come in the flesh and that you are 100% man and 100% God. As the Branch of David, you came to die for man’s sin but 3 days later you resurrected. You are a God that is alive. I know you will return as a Judge and not as a Savior to judge the world, therefore I want to share your love to my unsaved friends so that they too can be with you in heaven forever.

Why Do I Have To Go To Church?

What Is Church? The word "church," is translated from a word that means an assembly of people and the center of attention is Jesus Christ.

Matthew 18: 20 NIV For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

Why Do I Have To Go To Church? After Jesus died on a cross to pay for our sins and was raised from the dead to make us a new creation. Jesus is alive and through his Holy Spirit, He breathed on His Church which is the gathering of His people.

Why Do I Have To Go To Church? Because it is the closeness where we find protection from the sinful and evil forces of this world.

Why Do I Have To Go To Church? Because we are loved, encouraged, strengthened and uplifted by the fellowship of the Church. The true Church is people who are filled with Jesus Christ's Holy Spirit, loving each other, care for one another and helping each other.

Hebrews 10:24 NIV And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds

Why Do I Have To Go To Church? Sin, the evil forces at work in this world and the world's worries are trying to separate us from the fellowship of Christ's Holy Spirit which is in His Church, the gathering of his people. Alone, we are at the mercy of the devil, just waiting to "snatch us up" into a bitter life and eternal death. In the fellowship of His Church we have the power of Almighty God to overcome the powers of sin and evil.

Why Do I Have To Go To Church? Jesus died for our sins, was raised from the dead, and ascended into heaven, His bodily presence left us until He returns to judge all people, on the Day of Judgment. His Holy Spirit is here but Jesus needs us to carry His message of salvation and right living before God to the world

That Christ is the Author or Prince of Life (KJV) signifies that “the life He had was not from another; the Prince of Author of Life must be He who has life from Himself.” The particular word used here means one who takes a lead in, or provides the first occasion of, anything.

Lord, you are the Originator of Life – physical, spiritual, and eternal. You alone have the power to give and take away life. Therefore, I fear not those who can destroy the body but not the soul. Teach me to walk in the fear of you and not to take my salvation for granted.

Revelation 3:14 "To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation."

This expression of approval is only used here as a personal name as records by John. The word "verily" is another translation of the Greek word for amen. The Hebrew form is "truly." As an affirmative response, it implies the soul's approval to the truth of what is uttered. When uttered by God, amen meant, "it is and shall be so," and when used by men, implied, "So let it be." When used as a title of Christ, it is because He is "faithful and true," and the One through whom the purposes of God are established (2 Corinthians 1:20). For in Him the promises and truth of God are both secured.

What Is Quiet Time?

A Quiet Time (QT) or sometimes we called it devotional time is a time of quietness and devotion you spend with God. It usually begins in a private place by asking God to make Himself known to you as a Friend and Father.

During QT you read the Bible slowly and think about what you have read and then ask God to show Himself to you through the Bible. And finally you pray over the verses you have read asking yourself. "what do I learn from it?"

It is good to do QT every morning when you wake up as this will help you through the day. Find a quiet corner and read your Bible. After reading, pray for yourself, friends and family. Sometimes you may want to read a Christian story book or listen to Christian music. Or you may just want to sing songs or write a letter to God.

Having a regular Quiet Time is like taking your food regularly and it will make you grow strong in God.

Where Can I Pray?

If you can pray loudly or softly or silently, that means you can pray anywhere. It doesn't matter if you are sitting or standing, running or swimming, you can pray anywhere you like. You can pray in church or at home, in school or at the tennis court, in the bus or sitting in a car.
In short, you can pray anywhere you like because God hears you.

Jesus often goes to a quiet place to pray, I guess one of the best place to pray is a quiet place where you can kneel and bow your head.

As Christians, we believe that God owns everything and all things were given by Him. The Bible teaches us to be good stewards that means good managers of the many things that God has given to us.

As a believer, money isn't our possession, it's God's possession, which we hold in trust.

Tithing is an act we do to show that God is owner of what we have. Tithing is one of the first rule of giving found in the Bible – Abraham tithed before the Law was given to Moses.

Under the law in the Old Testament, giving a tithe was required. God's people in the Old Testament were asked to give one tenth of their income.

Tithing is an act of our trust and thanksgiving to the Lord.

You would probably have heard from the news that climate change is affecting everyone. All of us should be concerned. The news are flooded with bad news of:

rising sea level
hotter days and nights
higher food prices due to poor harvest
change in weather pattern
spread of infectious diseases

Why is the weather changing? Carbon dioxide. Yes, it is carbon dioxide. Every time we turn on the TV, computer, playstation, light, in fact when you turn on all electrical appliances, we use electricity. And electricity is generated by burning fossil fuels which produces carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is a gas and excess carbon dioxide traps heat from the sun causing climate change.

The more electricity we use, the more carbon dioxide is generated. Love Mother Earth, help reduce CO2 (CO2 is the chemical name for carbon dioxide). T

he Bible teaches us to take care of Earth. "The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it" (Genesis 2:15).

Be careful to turn off the lights when you leave the room.

They made it to the finish line. Claris and Gloria, our triathlon girls added another medal to their collection. Last Saturday, both girls were pushing themselves at the OSIM Singapore International Triathlon 2008.

We heard that Yu Hui, Shun and David were at Marina Bay watching the National Day Parade. The fireworks were amazing. The acrobatic maneuvers by The Black Knights of the Singapore Air Force was breathtaking.

Remember to catch it live on National Day.

Hi Primary 5 friends, you get to join some 25,000 primary five students from schools all over Singapore to preview National Day Parade. Last Saturday, some of you guys were at Marina Bay. I am sure you enjoyed the vibrant dances and beautiful floats to the awesome military hardware and stunning aerial display from the Republic of Singapore Air Force. I think it must be the dazzling fireworks display that impressed you.

To witness Singapore Singapore's 43th birthday in advance is a privilege and you must have felt great to live in Singapore. I am too as we live in a safe country. We must remember to continue to pray for our country and leaders to have a safe place to live in.

Now, let's see who is in Primary 5? Shun, David, ............................... who else?

I am hoping to catch the National Day Parade at the Marina Bay but it is no easy task as tickets are hard to come by.

New Baby

With all the new technology regarding fertility, a 65 year old woman gave birth to a baby. When she was discharged from the hospital and went home, her relatives came to visit.
"May we see the new baby?" one asked.
"Not yet" said the 65 year old mother," but soon.
"Thirty minutes passed, and another relative asked, "May we see the new baby now?"
"Not yet" said the mother.
After another few minutes had elapsed, they again asked, "May we see the baby now?"
"No", replied the mother.

MKC Triathlon Kids

Claris and Gloria. Triathlon kids will be back this year at OSIM Singapore International Triathlon 2008. This year Claris is doing 100 m swim, 5 km cycling ending with a 1 km run. Gloria is in another category with a 200 m swim, 10 km cycling and 2 km run.

You can catch them at East Coast Park E2 on 12 July 2008.

Last year, Claris and Gloria received their medals for finishing the endurance event. And this year, they are out to prove their perseverance once again. Talk about endurance.

Rules are placed in our lives to maintain an orderly society, so that everyone can enjoy life. Some of these laws may seem petty but they do help us. In the zoo, ‘Do Not Feed The Animals’ signs are found in most enclosures. You may think it is a good deed to feed the hungry animals but do know that some foods are bad for the animals. It may make them sick. The zoo keepers put up these rules to protect the animals.

And it is the same with rules at home or in schools. We must learn to respect teachers, mum and dad as they give us rules so that we will not be harm.

Psalm 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. The term Almighty is used in the Bible 57 times and applied to God only often in comparison to the inability of the heathen gods. It tells of His all-sustaining power and grace for His people. It speaks of God's power to fulfill every promise He had made to His children and His faithfulness in performing every word He has spoken.

God, the self-disclosure of you as Almighty God has assured me of a sure and all-sufficient resource in every time of my need. What a comfort it is to know I serve a God who is all-powerful and is able to help me to overcome all obstacles in every given situations. God, nothing is too hard for you.

What Is Holy Communion?

Moriah AG celebrates Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month. This is one way to remember our Lord Jesus' death on the cross for us. The Lord Jesus instructed his followers to remember him through the symbols of bread and wine. This act of remembrance is called Holy Communion or the Lord's Supper.

Christians who believe in Jesus Christ participate in Holy Communion. Holy Communion is a sacred time for reflection and prayer that nourishes our souls by faith.

1 Corinthians 11:24-26 says
"For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.' In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.' For whenever you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes."

In Holy Communion, we remember who Jesus is. When we take the bread and drink from the cup we remember He is God's Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

We remember who we are We are sinners in need of forgiveness. It's important to take some quiet moment to confess our sins to God and ask Him for forgiveness.

We remember what He did Holy Communion helps us to remember that Christ died for our sins. Christ loves us so much that He died for our sins so that we would no longer be separated from God.

Holy Communion reminds us that Jesus gave His life, represented by the bread on the cross for our sins. Jesus also bled on the cross, the cup represents his blood. He died and was buried but He rose from the grave to live again so that we could with God forever in heaven.

We remember that He is coming back One day Jesus is coming back in a wonderful way, we do not know the exact time when He will return. While we wait, we remember Him through Holy Communion.

Yeah, I can hear your mind crackling - "How about inviting us for 2009 camp?". We wish we could but we can't promise because organising camps depends very much on whether we can book the camp site.

Camp Christine belongs to Girls' Guide and priority is given to GG and we can only book it 2 months before the camp date.

Abba, a term of simple affection is an Aramaic word for Father, found also in Mark 14:36 and Galatians 4:6. Close to a personal name, in comparison to Father, with which it is always joined in the New Testament. Father expresses an intelligent understanding of the relationship. The two together express the love and intelligence and confidence of the child. Slaves were not permitted to use this term in addressing the head of the family.

Abba, Father in heaven, with a grateful heart, I want to thank you that I am a child of the Almighty God, the Creator of heaven and earth. I am no longer a slave to Satan anymore. Thank you for delivering me from the bondage of sins. As your child, I am glad that I can live a victorious Christian life with all the guidance and power that you have made available.

Introduction
The names of God hold an important key to understanding the doctrine of God and the doctrine of revelation. The name of God is a personal disclosure and reveals relationship with His people. His name is known only because He chooses to make it known. To the Hebrew mind, God was both hidden and revealed, transcendent and immanent. Even though he was mysterious, lofty, and unapproachable, He bridged the gap with humankind by revealing His name.

The truth of God's character is focused in His name. The divine name reveals God's power, authority, and holiness. This accounts for Israel's great reverence for God's name. The Ten Commandments prohibited the violation of God's name (Ex. 20:7; Deut. 5:11). Prophets spoke with authority when they uttered God's name. Oaths taken God's name were considered binding, and battles fought in the name of God were victorious. Other nations would fear Israel, not because it was a mighty nation, but because it rallied under the Lord's name. In the New Testament, God's name is manifested most clearly in Jesus Christ. He is called "the Word" (John 1:1), and He makes the claim that He has revealed the name of God (John 17:6). God's name His promise to dwell with His people.

Knowing God leads to adoration, deep ardent, often excessive attachment, passion, love - Webster’s Dictionary definition of worship. Too often children do not understand what worship is. Most equate worship to singing or going to church. Some thought that reading the bible is worship or having a mountain top experience is. The word worship is overused, misused and sometimes abused. It needs a clear definition. An understanding that we may worship God in spirit and in truth. God demands and expects worship.1 Chronicles 16: 28 – 3128 Ascribe to the LORD , O families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength, 29 ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name. Bring an offering and come before him; worship the LORD in the splendor of his] holiness. 30 Tremble before him, all the earth! The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved. 31 Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, "The LORD reigns!"

Parents Guide
Children are encouraged to memorise God’s Word, once inscribed in their tender hearts, the Word of God will remain throughtout their lifetime.

The devotion consists of a name of God, verse, description and a prayer. Set a routine each day and go through the devotion with your child. Explain to them the meaning of the name and ask the child to turn to the reference in the Bible and read out loud in unison. In closing, pray together.

Who Is Jesus?

Jesus is God's only Son
He came from Heaven to earth to be born as a baby so that he could live like us. He came to teach people about God, His Father.

Because Jesus is the Son of God, He was different from everyone. He was never unkind, He never did anything wrong. He never told a lie. He never took anything that wasn't His.

Have you done wrong things? I'm sure the answer will is "Yes" because we all do things that are wrong. We call doing bad things - sin and sin separates us and God.

The only way for us to remove our sins is that a perfect person must take the punishment for our sins.

Because Jesus died on the cross and took all the punishment for every person in the world, we can now have friendship with God, just as if we had never done anything wrong!

This is a wonderful gift Jesus offers to you - friendship with God.

Will you say "Yes"?

If you want to accept Jesus' gift for you, simply talk to God by saying the following prayer.

"Dear God, I am sorry for all the bad things that I have said or done. Thank you for your Son, Jesus who loves me so much that He took the punishment for the wrong things that I have done. Thank you that He died for me, so that I could be clean again. Amen".
